Introduction
The Project Environmental Friendly Vehicles aimed to promote the adoption of more environmental and energy efficient vehicles, with higher efficient energy use, less air pollutants emissions, more silent engines and a wider range of energy solutions from the point of view security and replenishment.
Reason to Be Selected
This is based in the development of a useful tool, which will help the final decision makers and managers in the fleet selection process while the acquisition of new vehicles. This tool works in a comparative basis of the whole range of vehicles, based on a constantly updated database (by AUTOHOJE), which presents the unities that offer a better cost-benefit relation, taking into account a life cycle analysis. In this relation the environmental impact plays an important and essential role. Further analysis to the availability of new technologies as well as to the evolution of fuel prices are also considered.

This tool was, at the first phase, designed for the Lisbon Municipality, and nowadays is ready to be used in companies that wish to include energy and environmental criteria in the process of decision-making.Details
Moreover, it is previewed the introduction of a horizontal category (in the Central State Purchasing) that will be based on the environmental and energy certification of vehicles, in partnership with the Portuguese Environmental Agency. In the future, this category would originate a creation of a label green for environmentally friendly vehicles. This certification will thus create a positive discrimination through lower financial expenses in the payment of parking fees from users of Environmental friendly vehicles.
